Fish supplier nets benefits of Mercedes-Benz Sprinters19 October 2017

Cornwall-based Flying Fish Seafoods has added to its Mercedes-Benz Sprinter fleet, which now numbers 13, with the operator stating that the brand is “the only one we can fully trust”.

Supplied by dealer Rygor Commercials, the Sprinters are various sizes and have different power rating; all are serviced at the Truro branch of Mercedes-Benz South West.

The service proposition is vital for the operator, with its vehicles clocking up high mileage delivering across the south of England – the three-year, unlimited mileage provides the assurance it needs, with each Sprinter covering at least 100,000 miles per year.

“The vans are superbly reliable, of course. However, the peace of mind we get from knowing that in the unlikely event of something going wrong, we can get it fixed under warranty, with no quibbles, is also crucial,” says Harry Squires, logistics manager at Flying Fish Seafoods.

Should a vehicle suffer a fault which would require a complex and time-consuming repair, the dealer has the option of replacing a complete engine with a Mercedes-Benz Reman unit, which can prove to be the quickest workshop turnaround. The powerplants are not refurbished or reconditioned, but fully remanufactured by Mercedes-Benz to the highest standards – and the warranty cover remains in place.

With Service Care contracts, Flying Fish pays up front for six services per vehicle, per year. “Because they cover such high mileages our vans can need routine maintenance every couple of months,” adds Squires.

“The Service Care package means we pay once and then don’t have to think about it again. The rates are highly competitive, too.”
