FleetCheck interface brings dashcam footage to the office09 October 2019

FleetCheck has designed a new interface allowing dashcam video to be imported directly in the fleet management system, a development said to offer “considerable potential”, according to the company.

The dashcam interface is now available to all FleetCheck users free of charge. It will allow a video of an accident to be linked to an incident report, for example, or can be used to prevent fraudulent accident claims.

“One of the key purposes of fleet management software is being able to keep all the information that you need in one place in a structured fashion, so the new interface that we have created is very important,” says Peter Golding (pictured), FleetCheck’s managing director.

“For example, being able to open a report on an accident and examine the video taken can have a direct influence on how the user progresses with claims, repairs and other actions. It is extremely useful.”

He believes, too, that video will become more widely used in all aspects of fleet management: “Video, especially when it is geostamped, provides excellent evidence in terms of all kinds of fleet actions. We tend to think of dashcams and accidents, but there are a multitude of other applications.

“For example, you could ask a driver to provide video evidence of a walkaround vehicle inspection on their smartphone or a garage to email video showing that a particular repair is needed. The potential is considerable.”
