Fleetmatics exceeds 500,000 subscribed vehicles 12 August 2014

Vehicle tracking specialist Fleetmatics says it now has in excess of 500,000 vehicles under subscription, representing more than 62 billion data points.

Jim Travers, Fleetmatics chairman and chief executive, believes the rapid uptake is due to the system's ability to enable operators – particularly those in the service sectors – to achieve rapid and ongoing improvements, in terms of increased revenue and reduced costs.

He cites US firm Express Energy Services, which, with 1,200 vehicles in the field, is reporting fuel costs down by more than $80 per vehicle per month (totalling $1.15 million per year) since installing Fleetmatics.

The same company has also seen accidents reduce from 37 in 2012 to just seven in 2013.

Earlier this year, the company launched Fleetmatics Reveal, Reveal+ and Work, tailored to the needs of different businesses across a range of industries.

"Having exceeded 500,000 subscribed vehicles is a significant milestone for our company," states Travers.

"Our growth continues to be fuelled by an under-penetrated global market, a leading software platform, and an efficient web-selling model to small-and-mid-sized businesses."
