Florist freshens fleet with Citan van addition 22 July 2013

Florists Gareth and Amanda Sweet have bought a Mercedes-Benz Citan van, having waited some time – having heard of its impending introduction back in 2011.

"We planned our vehicle requirements around the Citan coming out and I'm glad we did," comments Gareth. "Not only is it the perfect size for our business, but we're already making valuable savings on our fuel bill too."

The long-bodied 109 CDI BlueEfficiency arrived via local dealer Rossetts Commercials and features several fuel and cost saving measures, such as an ECO start/stop function, low rolling resistance tyres and advanced alternator and battery management.

The vehicle – which returns 65.7mpg and emits as little as 112g/km of CO2 – offers 3.7m³ of carrying capacity with the option of a hinged bulkhead and flat-folding passenger seat.

The Sweets used to rely on larger Mercedes-Benz Vito vans.

"We used to do a lot of runs to the wholesale markets to buy flowers," explains Gareth. "But as we've grown the online side of our business, so our suppliers have been prepared to deliver to us."
