Supplied by Jost UK, the Rockinger couples were selected by the Essex-based operator as a more robust alternative, better suited to its 44-tonne loads.
"With the new coupling, the locking pin can be inserted automatically rather than requiring the driver to get down and do it manually," says Gary Buckell of Foley& Mils. "This is safer for the driver and also ensures that the pin is always correctly located."
The Rockinger 57.5mm air coupling is is available in multiple versions for different applications. It offers a heavy-duty execution D-Value up to 300 kN V-Value up to 95 kN and meets EU standard 94/20/EC.
The pneumatically-operated, remotely controlled pin mechanism is available as a factory fit or as an upgrade kit for retrofitting. An anti jack-knifing device is fitted to most of the air couplings, but a lightweight version is available without it.
Fitting the coupling to a vehicle is simple and quick, says Jost, thanks to a segment ring locking device.
