Foley & Miles increases MAN numbers for Crossrail project26 June 2014

Haulier and logistics operator Foley & Miles has expanded its fleet with six MAN TGX 26.440 6x2 tractor units.

The Grays, West Thurrock-based operator acquired the tractors on a five-year package through MAN Financial Services and the vehicles are already in operation, making deliveries to Crossrail sites across London.

Specified to TfL (Transport for London) and Crossrail standards, the new tractor units have been fitted with safety equipment, including side-facing cameras, side-scan detection devices, reversing cameras and alarms.

Foley & Miles now has 16 MAN vehicles in its 48-strong truck fleet.

Gary Buckell, fleet manager, says the latest acquisitions replaced a competitor marque and are already delivering fuel savings – "Something I hope will improve still further after our drivers have attended MAN driver training courses".

One of the vehicles will be shown to local schools as part of the company's road safety initiative with Thurrock Council.
