Following tipper body purchase, Enviro-Clean praises Thompsons’ Scotland factory plans09 May 2017

One of the first truck operators to welcome Thompsons’ announcement that it is to open a tipper factory in Scotland is Enviro-Clean (Scotland), a long-standing customer of Thompsons bodies based in East Kilbride that has recently taken another two new units its 100 - plus truck fleet.

The two new trucks are Volvo FMXs fitted with easy-discharge curved floor Multimaster bodies, making these trucks ideal for multi-purpose tipping which, in this case, often involves shifting wet and sticky soils on ground clearance work.

Having purchased Thompsons bodies for a good few years already, Enviro-Clean confirms that Thompsons bodies continue to out-perform their competition whether in terms of reliability, durability and whole life cost of operation.

That Thompsons is planning to open a factory north of the border is even better, the company says.

Enviro-Clean transport manager Findlay Robertson comments: “Thompsons coming to Scotland is a perfect move which can only benefit everyone. We’ve run Thompsons bodies for a long time with great success and, being a Scottish tipper operator, it’s obviously even more advantageous for us if our bodies can be built locally.

Similarly, we’re obviously delighted to see Thompsons directly investing in Scotland and the Scottish economy. This is a genuine ‘win - win’ development that can only benefit us all.”

Speaking for Thompsons, director Scott Burton says: “Opening a factory in Scotland will be a very significant investment for our company, but one that we think will pay us real dividends in the future. We already have a strong and steadily increasing customer base north of the border, which soon we will be able to really accelerate. Key to Thompsons’ long term success will not be just about building bodies in Scotland, but also reducing delivery times and providing optimum standards of locally - based parts and service support.”
