Ford wins first Police Scotland order14 January 2014

Police Scotland, the newly unified Scottish police force, has placed an order with Ford for 58 Ford Transit Custom vans and 124 Ford Focus cars.

The vehicles are being fitted out at Ford SVP in Essex, where they are equipped to Police Scotland's requirements with livery, sirens, blue lights and specialist equipment.

"We chose from vehicles approved by the National Association of Police Fleet Managers and, after evaluation of the whole-life costs of the various models available, Ford won the contract," says Tony Chalk, Police Scotland transport manager.

Police Scotland was established in April 2013 and is the second largest force in the UK after the Metropolitan Police. The latest order boosts its fleet size to 3,500.
