Four MAN tractors on the road for Global Road Runners23 June 2017

Leading truck manufacturer MAN Truck & Bus UK has supplied four brand new MAN TGX 26.480 XXL 6x2 tractor units to Northampton-based Global Road Runners.

They are specified with MAN’s D2676LF six-cylinder 12.4-litre engine generating 473bhp at 1,800rpm and 2,300Nm at about 1,150rpm. It is coupled to a Tipmatic 12-speed gearbox.

Contracts manager Adam Barnell said the high-spec units are simply “the right tools for the job”.

“We were looking at the vision for our business going forward and we were looking for the right tools for the job and that is what MAN delivered,” he said.

“When we were discussing our requirements MAN had everything we needed and they have delivered everything they have promised.

“We can’t wait to get the vehicles out on the road. They have all been liveried up and have light bars and they really do look the part – it will be great to see them putting our name out there. The drivers are all very excited about them too – it’s like Christmas.”

He added: “The drivers are all going to go through the driving training and will be making the most of all the onboard technology to get maximum efficiency from the trucks. We are looking forward to seeing some economies with them.”

Scott Munton, MAN sales executive, said: “These trucks are top spec and deliver great economy, quality and style. Global Road Runners will be operating them on runs nationwide and I am confident they will see excellent returns.”

The vehicles have been supplied on 36-month contract hire through MAN Financial Services.

Global Roadrunners Ltd cover all road freight, including ADR, warehousing and storage.
