Fred Sherwood Group cuts downtime with Vacu-Lug19 September 2016

Fred Sherwood Group is reporting significant improvements in vehicle downtime since signing with Vacu-Lug four months ago to manage its fleet tyre requirements.

The contract covers tyre supply and management for all the transport companies within the group, including Bulk Freight (Midlands), F. Sherwood & Sons (Shepshed), George Varney (Bulk Services) and KJ Transport.

“In just four months we have seen improvements in incident response and job turn-around times” says director Justin Sherwood, “and, in turn, this has increased fleet mobility.”

Fred Sherwood switched to Vacu-Lug because the company required a comprehensive fleet tyre management service which could cover its diverse vehicle range, including bulk tippers, walking floor trailers, general haulage artics and rigid vehicles.

The web-based VMS (Vacu-Lug Management System) provides The Fred Sherwood Group with full, uninterrupted access to all tyre-related activities across each of its transport businesses.

The company is also supported by Vacu-Lug’s fleet operations department which provides assistance on all aspects of tyre management from compliancy through to fitment queries.

“Vacu-Lug’s Tyre Rescue is also proving to be an asset,” adds Sherwood. “It operates nationwide and provides immediate response around the clock with every job allocation and completion being confirmed by email. It’s fast and efficient, and helps to keep our vehicles moving.”
