Freightliner on track with new MAN TGX tractors14 August 2017

Rail freight operator Freightliner has boosted its road services fleet with the delivery of six new MAN TGX tractors.

Four are MAN TGX 26.500 with XXL cabs and two are MAN TGX 26.460 with XLX cabs.

Both models have six-cylinder, 12.4-litre engines; the TGX 26.500 engines deliver 500bhp at 1,800 rpm, with the TGX 26.460 delivering 460bhp at 1,800 rpm.

Richard Branston, general manager road of Freightliner, says: “We have high expectations of these trucks as they are the latest Euro6c versions featuring the new 460bhp/500bhp engines and new Tipmatic gearboxes.

“The safety of our drivers and the public are paramount in everything we do, so we are particularly impressed with the driver safety features coupled with high levels of driver comfort.

“Initial fuel trials have been impressive and drivers like the power in the new torque bands.”

The vehicles are joining Freightliner’s 150-strong MAN fleet supporting its road services division and will be operating out of Birmingham.
