Fresh-faced Kangoo van introduced by Renault 04 February 2013

A 'Phase 2' version of Renault's second-generation Kangoo van has been launched by the French manufacturer, covering from Kangoo Van and Maxi, to Kangoo Van ZE and Kangoo Maxi ZE.

The new Kangoo range comes in two wheelbase lengths and three versions of the 1.5-litre dCi diesel engine (75, 90 and 110bhp).

There is also a choice of two- or five-seat Kangoo Maxi. The five-seat Crew version also has a rear seat that tips forward to accommodate long loads.

The latest vehicle also builds on Kangoo van's fuel-efficiency. The line-up includes a choice of responsive, yet economical power plants, two of which are claimed to return the lowest fuel consumption in their segment.

The dCi 75 Stop&Start and dCi 90 Stop&Start engines have NEDC combined-cycle fuel consumption of 4.3 litres/100km or 65.7mpg (equivalent to 112g/km of CO2).

Also, to help drivers reduce consumption, the latest-generation engines come with a gear shift indicator as well as an ECO mode, said to achieve fuel savings of 10% by acting on engine torque, the gear shift indications and accelerator pedal mapping.

Renault believes that such improvements will help achieve TCO (total cost of ownership) savings, a major consideration for operators.

Costs have been further reduced by longer engine service intervals (every two years or 25,000 miles, instead of every two years or 18,600 miles previously).
