GAZ Group unveils next generation Ural NEXT 05 June 2015

GAZ Group – part of Russia's diversified industrial groups Basic Element – has unveiled a family of Ural NEXT trucks.

The new commercial vehicles represent the next phase in the development of its NEXT family, building on the launch vehicle, GAZelle NEXT, which started production in 2013.

GAZ Group president Vadim Sorokin claims that "modern engineering solutions and components" are behind the new trucks appeal, both internally and externally, adding that they will be built on a modernised chassis with a high-tech base.

He also suggests that potential purchasers will find the new trucks' cabins both spacious and comfortable, with easy controls and excellent ergonomics.

And he adds that cross-country functionality does not compromise reliability, handling or fuel efficiency.

"The development of Ural NEXT is the result of successful cooperation between enterprises and design services of GAZ Group," states Sorokin.

"The ATV cabin for the new Ural generation was designed by the United Engineering Center based on the GAZelle NEXT and GAZon NEXT cabins," he continues.

Sorokin says serial production of the Ural cabin module will be at the Gorky Automobile Plant alongside other GAZ cabins. And he explains that the YAMZ-536 engine was developed at the firm's Yaroslavl Motor Works.

"Ural engineers used [their] experience of developing vehicles for operation in extremely hard road conditions at very low temperatures, implementing ... a lot of innovations, making the vehicle not only functional but also very comfortable," he says.

"The outcome of cooperation between the GAZ Divisions was the truck of the new generation that completely satisfies the requirements of the customers representing various sectors of the national economy."

Serial production and sales of Ural NEXT are scheduled to begin in the second half of 2015.
