Glen Dimplex service division boosted by Mercedes-Benz Vito21 November 2017

Heating and energy business Glen Dimplex is boosting its fleet of Mercedes-Benz Vito vans, with an order for 16 long-bodies Vito 111 CDIs to add to 20 already delivered this year.

The vehicles are allocated to service engineers and the company’s home appliance care division plans to add 100 more of the same model to its fleet next year.

The Vito 111 CDI is powered by a 112bhp 1.6-litre engine, which delivers fuel economy of 45.6mpg. Glen Dimplex’s vans are front-wheel drive and the spec includes air conditioning and parking sensors.

“We talked to other van providers, but ultimately the 24-hour servicing capability and free MobiloVan breakdown cover tipped the scales in favour of Mercedes-Benz,” says fleet manager Andrew Winstone.

Service levels will be maintained thanks to the fact that Mercedes-Benz dealers will repair vehicles overnight, he notes, adding: “They represent a significant investment, so we’d never have contemplated putting them through some back-street garage.

“Instead, we will have the peace of mind which comes from knowing our vans are being maintained by factory-trained technicians fitting only genuine parts. This might include remanufactured ReMan parts, which I’m very comfortable with, as they’re near enough brand new anyway.”

He adds: “Winter is always the most challenging part of the year for Glen Dimplex, which is why efficiency in all areas of the business – including our van fleet – is so important.”
