Glossop haulier places first UK order for new DAF XF08 May 2017

Haulier David G Davies & Sons has placed the first UK order for a new DAF XF, after seeing the vehicle at the recent CV Show.

The Glossop-based operator’s new addition is a 40-tonne DAF XF 4x2 tractor with Super Space Cab, equipped with an uprated 530bhp Paccar MX13 engine and new ZF TraXon gearbox.

It also features front axle suspension and is specified with the new Exclusive Line cab interior.

Director Chris Davies was invited to the CV Show by dealer F&G Commercials and, when he saw the XF, he says, “I just had to have one”.

“The new model looks superb, but the real developments have been made under the cab. Our existing DAFs all perform well, and I’m really excited about seeing this one in action.”

DAF’s new CF and XF rigid and tractor line-up boasts 7% lower fuel consumption thanks to improved MX-11 and MX-13 engines, the new ZF TraXon gearbox, new high-efficiency rear axles with faster gear ratios, advanced powertrain software and new cab aerodynamic aids.

Other new developments include an engine brake and compact exhaust after treatment system – combining to reduce kerb weight by 100kg. Service intervals are also increased to 200,000km.

David G Davies operates nine DAF vehicles, including a recently acquired XF Super Space Cab, while a new 6x2 rear-lift rigid is close to delivery. The new XF will be delivered in July.
