Go Ahead London twins efficiency and reliability with Volvo Euro 6 hybrids02 October 2015

Go Ahead London received the keys to the first of a 39-vehicle order of Volvo B5LH Euro 6 hybrid double-deck buses earlier this week, at Coach & Bus Live (NEC, 30 September – 1 October).

The buses feature new Gemini 3 bodywork, by Wrightbus, with twin doors. They are built to TfL standard and Go Ahead specification.

Richard Harrington, Go Ahead London’s engineering director, says the order was placed following previous good experience with Volvo’s Euro 5 hybrid.

He adds:We particularly like the new Wrightbus Gemini 3 styling which is the first two-door 10.6m vehicle built to TfL specification to enter operation in London.

“The new design gives drivers improved visibility with its wrap around screen, combined with an enhanced signalling window.”

The Volvo B5LH hybrid driveline has been designed to deliver consistent fuel and CO2 reductions of around 39% compared to conventional diesel equivalents.
