Golden wonders to celebrate Scania’s 50th in the UK 24 March 2014

Scania is celebrating its first half century in the UK this year with a Golden Griffin – a limited edition V8 tractor unit.

Scania (Great Britain) UK truck sales director Martin Hay says that only 50 of these tractors will be produced, each recognisable by their golden livery, designed by Scania's team of stylists.

Golden Griffin trucks will all have the Scania R-series Streamline Topline cabs, each bearing its limited edition number. They will also only be available with 580 or 730bhp engines, although numbers 1 and 50 will take Scania's 730bhp power unit.

Operators going for the golden trucks can specify 4x2, 6x2, 6x2/2, 6x2/4 and 6x4 (for STGO Category 1 and 2) formats, and Scania says its luxury Griffin pack will be fitted as standard.

Safety features will include Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control and Advanced Emergency Braking.

As for comforts, each will also include everything from a kitchenette to a TV/DVD player and state-of-the-art entertainment system, plus three luxury Scania packages – Black Leather V8, Prestige and Driver.

"Not since the Scania Centurion range – produced in 1991 to mark Scania's centenary – have we developed such an exclusive offering as this Limited Edition range," says Hay.

"I am confident that, as with the Centurions, demand will be exceptionally high, so the advice to anyone looking to secure one of these unique vehicles has to be contact your dealer right away."
