Goldstar rates Microlise telematics and incident recorder 21 January 2015

Container transport specialist Goldstar has gone live with Microlise’s Fleet Performance telematics software, along with its Incident Data Recorder, which provides pre-accident information.

Derek Daly, general manager for fleet at Goldstar Transport, expects the new system to deliver enhanced driver performance and safety across Goldstar 350-plus strong HGVs, which handle more than 1,000 movements every day.

"The Microlise solution will deliver a number of benefits to the business," states Daly, adding that the system gives comprehensive views of driver performance and allow the firm to reward drivers who perform well.

Following implementation of the Microlise solution, drivers now get a weekly report of performance, based on Microlise's A-G rating system.

Goldstar only carries out driver debriefs when necessary, managing additional training requirements by exception only.

"Having the ability to manage by exception, only conducting driver debriefs where required, is a positive step for the transport office and driving staff, removing wasted time and unnecessary administration," states Daly.

As for the Microlise Incident Data Recorder module, that records and sends information data back to the transport office, covering the period 30 seconds before and after an incident is recorded.

Daly says the insight gained not only speeds up insurance claims, but also provides a view of driver actions, leading up to and following an incident.

"Having the ability to manage by exception, only conducting driver debriefs where required, is a positive step for the transport office and driving staff, removing wasted time and unnecessary administration," he adds.
