Government approves suppliers for vehicle hire 21 August 2019

Ryder, Nexus Vehicle Rental and Enterprise Rent-A-Car are among eleven organisations that are approved suppliers for vehicle hire solutions from the government’s Crown Commercial Service (CCS).

The three companies are the only organisations listed for hire of HGVs or other heavy commercial vehicles over 3.5 tonnes.

Other categories in the three-year contract include light commercial vehicles, on- and off-road 4x4s, minibuses, international vehicle hire and car share schemes.

It is available to all public sector bodies, including central government, NHS bodies, local authorities, police and charities. It is also offered to any private company procuring on behalf of the public sector.

CCS says suppliers were required to demonstrate their social value credentials as part of the award.

Katrina Williams, head of travel at CCS, said: “We’re excited to launch this new agreement to support the public sector in achieving maximum commercial value on vehicle hire.

“Our enhanced lot structure means we are now able to offer customers daily rental and car share services through a single supplier solution, saving them time, money and improving their experience.”

The contract has eight lots – or categories – in total. As well as Ryder, Nexus and Enterprise, other suppliers for LCVs, minibuses and 4x4s include SHB Hire, Limesquare Vehicle Rental, Thrifty Car & Van Rental, Arnold Clark, Europcar, Mobility Vehicle Hire and Zipcar.
