Government publishes criteria for issue of ECMT permits07 November 2018

The government has updated its guidance for hauliers with the criteria used to allocate ECMT international road haulage permits, allowing transport of goods between the scheme’s 43 member countries.

The existing community licence will be valid until the UK leaves the EU at the end of March 2019, but thereafter operators will need ECMT permits.

Applications for the permits will open on 26 November. The number of permits is limited so the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency is advising operators to start collecting the required information now.

This will include: which operator licences will be used for the ECMT permit application; how many international trips were made in the past year per operating licence; and what percentage of all journeys were international.
