Haldex ModulT air disc brake passes one million mark 11 April 2016

Haldex is celebrating the success of its ModulT air disc brakes, more than a million of which have now been produced in Europe.

Introduced in 2010 at the IAA Commercial Vehicles trade show in Hanover, this brake has since seen continuous massproduction at the Haldex factory in Landskrona.

Jeff Stokes, who looks after Haldex air disc brakes worldwide, explains that axle manufacturers from SAF to Jost/Daimler adopted ModulT, while trailer manufacturer Krone also uses ModulT for its Krone axles.

As for why the success, Stokes points to ModulT light weight, thanks not only to its single tappet but also the brake’s “lean architecture”, right down to its monoblock brake calliper.

In fact, at 31kg tare, the ModulT DBT 22LT trailer brake remains the lightest non-axle-bound trailer disc brake in the 22.5-inch category.

Now, however, the ModulT is heading for the United States, with 22.5- and 19.5-inch variants for trucks and buses.

“We are fully committed to developing even better solutions for customers’ fleets,” states Haldex CEO Bo Annvik.

“The ModulT air disc brake is the perfect solution for fleet owners who value high performance, stability and low maintenance costs, as well as overall lower total cost of ownership,” adds Stokes.
