Half million milestone for Vauxhall Vivaro vans 19 September 2011

Half a million Opel/Vauxhall Vivaro vans have now been built at the Luton assembly line since the first vehicles rolled out 10 years ago.

The Vivaro now comes in many variants, including panel van, double cab, chassis cab, drop side plus combi and bus passenger vehicles, all of which can these days be tailored within the plant's own conversion centre.

"The Vivaro enjoys huge success not only in the UK but also in Europe," comments Mark Stein, Vauxhall's Luton plant director.

"The van is built to high quality standards and ensures an economical and comfortable ride whilst offering an impressive and practical loading space," he adds.

The van's popularity is also reflected in the Vivaro's market share which, in its segment, amounts to almost 10% for Europe and 18% under the Vauxhall brand in the UK.

Production of the second generation Vivaro was announced earlier this year to start in 2014 at Luton, thus making the site the largest van manufacturing operation in the UK.
