Halfords sold on safety benefits of Volvo FH tractors29 November 2017

Retailer Halfords Group is renewing its entire long-haul truck fleet with 50 Volvo FH 6x2 tractors.

Supplied by dealer The Hartshorne Group, the vehicles are equipped with D13K engines producing 493bhp through I-Shift automated manual transmissions systems.

The new additions have a host of safety features: Volvo’s standard forward collision warning and AEBS is complemented by lane keeping support and nearside proximity sensors.

The specification also includes the Globetrotter XL all-steel safety cab, with ‘drive plus’ and ‘living’ packages for driver safety and comfort, along with a bespoke catwalk solution giving a non-slip platform for drivers when coupling or uncoupling trailers.

Three-year Volvo Gold contracts guarantee uptime for the new fleet, which is also equipped with Volvo’s Dynafleet telematics package.

Tracey Barley-Wild, head of logistics at Halfords Group, says the dealer and manufacturer have clear synergies with Halfords, “with both putting safety, quality and leading customer service levels at the forefront of their respective businesses”.
