Hansford builds fleet efficiency with Schmitz tipper trailer12 October 2017

Groundworks and demolition business Hansford Construction has taken delivery of its first trailer from Schmitz Cargobull – an 8.2m light steel half-pipe tipper trailer – citing value and build quality as key reasons for the deal.

The tipper’s high quality steel construction features a 5mm trough floor and a steel top-hinged tail-gate, plus Schmitz Cargobull’s Rotos axles and running gear, which offers maintenance-free bearings and a disc brake ventilation system. Other benefits include an electronic braking system for increased safety and a PVC roller curtain.

It joins a mixed fleet of trucks, excavators and mini diggers at the West Dorset-based operator and will be used to transport aggregates from quarries and waste material from sites.

James Hansford, Hansford’s contracts manager, says: “When it came to expanding our fleet... Schmitz Cargobull was the only brand we considered. The total cost of ownership represents real value for money and the product quality is outstanding, so we know we will be able to keep it running for a long time.”

He adds: “I travel to mainland Europe regularly and see Schmitz Cargobull trailers everywhere – everyone seems to recognise their robustness and build quality.”
