Haulage firm expands with heavyweight additions15 November 2013

East Yorkshire haulier Robinson Contract Services has expanded its fleet with four Renault Premium 430.32 Lander eight-wheelers.

Supplied by dealer Thompson Commercials, the vehicles have all been fitted with Weightlifter 32 cu m plank-side bodies, Harsh K110N stabilised underfloor tipping gear, 1300 Series Weighers and the new Harsh Roll N Go sheeting system.

The new additions join two other Renault trucks, two Volvo FM 8x4s, as well as two Renault Premium artics.

The new rigids are all equipped with sleeper cabs and have a 19.7 payload, thanks to the Weightlifter bodies. The bodies feature air locking tail-doors, Harsh K110N underfloor tipping gear, PM1300 weighers and prototype Harsh Roll N Go electric sheeting systems.

The Roll N Go is a full electric drive system, with no powerpack or hydraulic oil required – so there's no contamination of material being transported, which includes biosolids.

"We were looking for good payload plus volume capability and Weightlifter came up trumps, designing them to accurately reflect our specification," says Robinson's director Neil Fewlass.

"They were very competitive on price, too, and offered extremely good delivery lead times. The plank-sided bodies are stylish and easy to keep clean – something which is very important in our line of work."

Robinson's trucks clock up 100,000km a year transporting biosolids, as well as quarry materials such as lime and aggregates, and agricultural fertiliser. They are expected to be in operation for six or seven years, and Robinson's has already placed an order for two more with the same specification.
