Haulier relies on Scania with six new 44-tonners24 January 2020

Norfolk-based haulier Ge-Be Transport has expanded its fleet with six new Scania 44-tonne tractors, citing product reliability and dealer support for its choice.

Supplied by TruckEast, the new arrivals are three R450 and three S450 6x2/2 Highline mid-lifts, equipped with front steel and rear air suspension systems.

Each is powered by Scania’s 13-litre engine, producing 444bhp and maximum torque of 2,350Nm, and the vehicles are supplied on a five-year contract hire deal through Scania Financial Services.

As well as the six new arrivals, the operator also extended the contract for its existing R450s, as Jay Goldspink, Ge-Be’s general manager, explains: “Due to the known lifecycle of a Scania and previous performance, we know they’ll just keep going so it made sense to extend them.

“The product is already very good so we are keen to see how the next generation models fair.”

The new additions have been specified for driver comfort, with the cabs featuring heated and cooling seats, air conditioning, leather trims, fridge and microwave, and infotainment system. They also have extra locker space.

Dealer support from TruckEast at Kings Lynn was also “a huge factor”, adds Goldspink. “I really can’t fault them and that back-up is supported nationwide.”
