Healthcare distributor cuts fuel bill by £35,000 with telematics21 November 2014

Healthcare transport business PAM Distribution is reporting fuel savings of £35,000 a year across its 16-strong fleet, after implementing TomTom Telematics' Webfleet solution.

The West Midlands-based operator has seen an average mpg increase of 14%, thanks to better driving style.

Using Webfleet's OptiDrive chart, PAM Distribution is able to score and profile every driver, based on fuel efficiency data and information on speeding, idling, and harsh steering and braking.

Drivers also receive real-time prompts to improve driving style via their in-vehicle navigation devices.

"Webfleet's driver behaviour monitoring tools ... have led to a more fuel-efficient driving style, with a clear reduction in incidents of speeding," confirms Paul Matthews, PAM Distribution's managing director.

The company is also able to respond quickly to collection requests with better fleet visibility, he adds: "We can now notify and route the most appropriate driver immediately, via his navigation device.

"We previously had to call drivers, leave them messages and wait for them to call us back, at which point they may have driven out of their way or missed the junction for their next pick-up."

PAM Distribution's system is supported by Fleetview Solutions, a TomTom Telematics partner.
