Hella launches independent lighting system for trailers11 October 2018

Lighting and electronics business Hella has launched a battery-powered lighting system for trailers, to ensure the equipment can be seen by other road users when decoupled and parked up at night.

Designed in conjunction with trailer maker Hüffermann Transportsysteme, the Park Safety Fix (PS-Fix) is a plug-and-play solution, integrated into the wiring of a Hella EasyConn system.

At its core is an electronics box, which can operate the lighting in the trailer’s decoupled state. The control unit and battery packs are integrated into a 30 x 22 x 20cm box mounted on the vehicle’s side.

When coupled to a towing vehicle, the PS-Fix system is inactive – and is only activated once the power supply from the vehicle is interrupted. Switches enable drivers to activate the necessary parking and/or hazard warning lights.

The system also has two auxiliary connections for other devices, such as work lights or beacons.

The batteries within the PS-Fix are charged by power from the towing vehicle while the trailer is coupled.
