Highland Council on track for fuel savings with Masternaut28 May 2015

The Highland Council has awarded a contract to telematics provider Masternaut to implement a tracking and fleet management solution covering its 238-strong fleet of council vehicles.

The deal was struck after a five-way competitive pitch and will cover all council vehicles over 3.5 tonnes, including road sweepers, LGV haulage, maintenance vehicles and refuse collection trucks.

"Being the largest local government area in the UK, we needed a solution that could give us a clear view of our diverse range of vehicles," says Richard Evans, head of roads and transport for the council.

"The challenge we faced was accurately tracking all our vehicles across a large area, to create effective routes that save on fuel," he continues.

"Masternaut Connect provides us with this clarity and also allows us to support our drivers on an ongoing basis, helping us to create a safer working environment for our employees and other road users."
