Highway contractor masters fleet efficiency and service with AGM Telematics17 September 2015

Highway maintenance contractor Irvine Grenson says its implementation of AGM Telematics’ RouteMaster tracking system has meant it has its “finger on the pulse” at all times.

With a mixed fleet ranging from small vans to 18-tonne grab lorries, the operator needed a system to provide visibility at all times, and to enable it to deploy specialist vehicles at short notice.

This is where the RouteMaster system “comes into its own”, according to managing director Lee Irvine.

“We have been able to maintain a constant check on every vehicle’s location, keep abreast of arterial road conditions and make sure our drivers select the optimum route,” he says.

“Furthermore, by viewing the on-screen vehicle location, which is automatically updated every minute, we can keep our clients and other crew members in the loop at all times.”

The cloud-based tracking system enables users to access live data from a PC, iPhone, iPad or android device. Real-time alerts can also be configured against a list of pre-set conditions and driving patterns can easily be monitored to help improve fuel efficiency.

“Keeping our finger on the pulse is, of course, a major benefit,” says Irvine. “But the system also improves overall efficiency, which in turn leads to improved customer service.”
