Hire-A-Lite gives green light to Mercedes Sprinters12 December 2016

Traffic equipment business Hire-A-Lite has taken delivery of 20 Mercedes-Benz Sprinters, bringing its total Sprinter fleet to 50, all delivering traffic lights and signage to utilities contractors across the south of England.

Supplied by the Norwich branch of Orwell Truck & Van, the Norfolk-based operator’s latest additions are 316 CDI chassis cab models with 163bhp Euro 6 engines and factory-built dropside bodies. They are also equipped with 500kg DEL column tail-lifts, fitted by Alfa Tail Lifts, of Cambridgeshire.

Safety features include the Adaptive ESP stability system, which helps the driver retain control in an emergency situation and automatically adjusts its parameters to take account of the vehicle’s load status.

“Our remote field engineers operate across the country, and we rely heavily on the reliability and performance of the sprinters to maintain delivery,” say Hire-A-Lite’s director Stewart Halsey.

“For this reason, and because contractors in our industry can face hefty fines if jobs are not completed on time, it’s crucial that our vehicles do not let us down.

The vehicles are supplied on CharterWay contract hire through Mercedes-Benz Financial Services, including full R&M.

In addition to the Sprinters, Hire-A-Lite has four Mercedes Citan 109 CDIs, which are used by supervisors to visit work sites.
