Hope Construction invests £3.6m in new Mercedes Arocs trucks18 July 2014

Hope Construction Materials has invested £3.6 million in 36 8x4 Euro 6 Mercedes-Benz Arocs mixers – the first vehicles of this type to enter service in the UK.

The Arocs 3236 four-axle trucks have been equipped with a McPhee mixer system, and join Hope's 300-strong concrete mixer fleet.

The package of safety features on the Arocs was key to the company's decision.

These include a system, based on Mobileye technology, to warn the driver if pedestrians or cyclists are too close to the vehicle.

Each truck has also been fitted with TomTom satellite navigation.

The investment represents a "significant commitment", confirms Mike Cowell, Hope's chief operating officer.

And he adds: "They are the most advanced trucks on British roads and will benefit our drivers, customers and other road users."

The Arocs were supplied on a five-year contract hire package.
