Hydraquip pumps up reliability with Mercedes-Benz Sprinters22 May 2017

Hydraulic hose business Hydraquip has taken delivery of another batch of Mercedes-Benz Sprinters, with 20 more due to enter service by the end of this year – totalling 100 new Sprinters in three years.

The Crawley-based operator now has a 160-strong fleet, 105 of which are Sprinters kitted out as mobile workshops, and plans to have 200 on the road by 2020.

Supplied by dealer Rossetts Commercials, the 313 CDIs and, more recently, Euro 6 314 CDIs are equipped with storage systems by Bott.

The medium-length vans are assigned to service engineers who provide a 24-hour, national call-out service, undertaking on-site repairs to hydraulic hoses on excavators, construction and rail vehicles, forklift trucks, and a range of other equipment.

“We’ve been buying Sprinters since around 2000 and they have always proved superbly reliable,” says Duncan MacBain, Hydraquip’s founder and managing director, adding that the service from the dealer is “first class”.

“We were confident we would get a long and trouble-free working life from the Sprinter, and that has certainly proved to be the case. It is the main reason we’ve stuck with this model ever since.”
