Instarmac says MAN TGX is solid choice for first artic11 April 2016

Cement and bitumen product manufacturer Instarmac has taken delivery of its first artic, a MAN TGX, following positive experience and driver feedback from five TGS vehicles acquired last year.

The Tamworth-based operator has traditionally run MAN rigids, relying on rentals or contractors for other deliveries. But, says logistics manager Andy Ryan, “we wanted to be able to deliver full trailer-loads to our customers and get more pallets in to our customers in one go”.

He adds: “The decision was made to buy the MAN TGX quite simply because it offered the best value for money.”

The latest acquisition, a TGX 26.480 6x2/2 BLS has a high roof sleeper cab is plated for 44 tonnes gcw.

It is powered by a 12.4-litre, six-cylinder engine, delivering 480bhp at 1,800 rpm, driving through a 16-speed manual gearbox.

Ryan adds: “After just his first run out, the TGX driver told me it is the best tractor unit he has ever driven – and he is an experienced driver who has held his licence for a number of years.”

Supplied through MAN Nuneaton, the vehicle is expected to cover 120,000km per annum.
