Insurance broker to fit vehicle cameras to cut bogus claims20 February 2014

In a bid to help fleet operators reduce their exposure to 'cash for crash' claims, motor fleet insurance broker Just Fleet has announced it will fit all vehicles with front-facing cameras.

The insurer has teamed up with Intelligent Telematics and will use its IT 1000 3G camera to help fleet operators reduce their long-term exposure to vehicle accidents and exaggerated or 50/50 claims.

Remote monitoring of the camera will give instant notification of any accidents or near misses, with video footage, G-force and speed of impact data available via an online interface within 15 minutes.

Just Fleet says this will enable it to prove blame, as well as minimise third-party hire and vehicle repair costs – ultimately reducing premiums.

After evaluating several cameras, the Intelligent Telematics solution was chosen for its accuracy and quality, says Ben Burford, Just Fleet's managing director.

He adds: "This partnership will enable us to achieve measurable benefits for clients in terms of protecting their fleet, minimising risk and reducing operational overheads."
