Irish transport business picks up first Schmitz Cargobull reefers01 April 2014

Irish operator Noone Transport has taken delivery of five S.KO Cool mono-temperature reefers, extending its trailer fleet to 55.

These are Noone's first Schmitz Cargobull trailers and the order was awarded thanks to the manufacturer's ability to build and deliver the units within four weeks.

The trailers run on Schmitz Cargobull's Rotos axles and have been mounted with Thermo King SLX refrigeration units. They also feature Ferroplast panels with NX 17 foam technology for improved insulation and body strength.

Semi-chassis construction means the trailers sit 100mm lower at the front than other similar trailers of this type, decreasing the frontal area by more than 2% to cut aerodynamic drag force and boost fuel efficiency.

"These first five units have met the brief perfectly," says Simon Noone, operations manager. "Now we've tried and tested them in our own fleet, we would have no issue with buying more trailers from Schmitz in the future."

The latest acquisitions will be used with Noone's MAN tractor unit fleet to transport deep frozen and refrigerated loads – including pharmaceuticals – to and from mainland Europe
