IRTE announces Euro Bus Expo 2012 presence at the NEC 23 October 2012

If you're planning on attending Euro Bus Expo at the beginning of November, make sure you stop at the IRTE stand, where staff will be on hand to talk about irtec, IRTE Skills Challenge 2013 and IRTE Workshop Accreditation.

This year, irtec has been given significant backing from the senior traffic commissioner for Great Britain Beverly Bell, who said that the scheme will "improve standards of vehicle maintenance and consequently road safety".

Chief executive of VOSA Alastair Peoples also hailed irtec as "one of the building blocks required to achieve total performance and [legislative] compliance."

The official launch of the IRTE Skills Challenge 2013 at Euro Bus Expo will be held on Wednesday 7 November.

Now in its third year, this competition for bus and coach operators is designed to highlight the outstanding work done by their technicians, and, with several major operators already committed to compete, 2013's competition promises to be bigger and better than ever.

In other IRTE news, the institute has begun working with the Freight Transport Association (FTA) to deliver IRTE Workshop Accreditation, an independent review of workshop procedures.

Under accreditation, maintenance provides must demonstrate their competence and commitment to best practices. Operators can then choose workshops that have been independently assessed to IRTE's quality assured standards.
