Delegates at this month’s national IRTE Conference (Chesford Grange, Warwickshire 16—17 September) are being promised a packed agenda, focusing on profiting from technology and compliance.

This year’s keynote will be delivered by CVDC director professor David Cebon, who will reveal emerging and future technologies set to transform the efficiency and safety of commercial vehicles and the road network.

Transport minister Patrick McLoughlin and acting London Commissioner Leon Daniels will also address the conference, explaining the importance of CLOCS and FORS accreditation, together aimed at making the industry safer.

Cenex (Centre of Excellence for Low Carbon and Fuel Cell Technologies) will also deliver an update on the government’s Low Carbon Truck trial, involving 12 consortia running mostly dual-fuel vehicles.

Other headline speakers will be representing Cummins, Loughborough University, McLaren Racing and Ricardo, with operator technology presentations from DHL and SIG.

There are also afternoon streams on legislation and compliance, as well as critical technologies, including telematics, aerodynamics and hybrid drivetrains.

Delegates and exhibitors are invited to attend a pre-conference dinner on the evening of 16 September, with after dinner speaker Geoff Miller, previous Chair of Selectors for England cricket.

The event is sponsored by Mobil Delvac 1, Brigade Electronics, Bullwell Trailer Solutions, Disclock, FORS, the Freight Transport Association, Microlise, Pirelli, TRW and Volvo Trucks.
