irtec puts SPR Trailer Services a cut above the rest 09 July 2013

Following irtec's extension late last year to cover trailer technicians, SPR Trailer Services has now gained the first independent accreditation of its kind for the trailer industry.

Operations manager David Rivers was one of the first to achieve the new irtec licence – IRTE's licensing scheme for road transport technicians.

"With trailers becoming more technical every year and our fitters having to learn more and more about them, it's great that they now have the opportunity to earn a recognised certification," states Rivers.

He explains that to earn their irtec licences, his technicians underwent rigorous theoretical and practical testing – and adds that he personally earned top marks, winning him the irtec Award at this year's CV Show in Birmingham.

"I am very pleased to have won this award for what I believe is a very worthwhile certification," states Rivers.

"irtec gives all our fitters proof of their abilities and a certificate to be proud of, while giving our customers the confidence that they are receiving a professional service."

And managing director Simon Rivers adds: "We have invested a lot in training and equipment over the years to ensure that all our engineers are competent.

"As most of the servicing we do is at customers' premises we have to show a lot of faith in the ability of our technicians... "We have always aimed to be a cut above the rest, and irtec helps us prove this."
