Isuzu fills the GAP with 20 new rigids 23 June 2011

The latest order for 20 additional Isuzu rigid trucks for the UK's largest independent plant and tool hire company, GAP Group, has taken the firm's total to 41.

The deal covers 10 3.5-tonne Grafters while a further 10 7.5-tonne Forwards are currently being introduced into the 374-strong, Glasgow-based GAP transport fleet.

The latest delivery follows on from 18 more Isuzus purchased by GAP over the last 12 months.

"We took our first Isuzu 7.5 tonner in November 2007 and, after a lengthy initial evaluation, the marque has now substantially increased its presence within our fleet," says GAP Group transport manager Bobby Allan.

The Grafters are all fitted with dropside bodies and rear tail lifts, and are also used for towing the company's 3.5t plant and low loader trailers.

Meanwhile, the Isuzu Forward 7.5t rigids were specified with the company's Easyshift transmission and have a mix of flat bed bodies with cranes or beavertail bodies, with a winch and electro hydraulic ramp at the rear.

Allan explains that the latter derivative is to facilitate transportation of plant and equipment between depots and customers all over the UK.

All 41 Isuzu rigids operated by GAP Group have been supplied through local Isuzu dealer Imperial Commercials.
