Iveco drives Dakar truck to Birmingham05 March 2014

Iveco's Dakar Rally 2014 truck, the Trakker Evolution 3, will take centre stage on the manufacturer's stand at the Commercial Vehicle Show in Birmingham, in April.

It will appear alongside a number of on- and off-road vehicles, including the Euro 6 Trakker Hi-Land 8x4 tipper chassis.

The 410bhp production model will be displayed in the matching Dakar Green paintwork made famous by its 900bhp rally-spec equivalent, as raced by the Iveco Petronas De Rooy team, which finished Dakar 2014 with three vehicles in the top 10.

Also on display will be an all-Euro 6 line-up of road trucks, highlighting the advanced SCR (selective catalytic reduction) system, called HI-eSCR, which Iveco claims provides benefits such as weight reduction, optimised fuel consumption and increased durability, compared to other manufacturers' EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) and SCR equivalents. .

A 4x2 Stralis Hi-Way, with a 480bhp Cursor 11 engine and twin-bunk cab offering will showcase Iveco's long-distance offering.

This will be joined by a medium-height Stralis Hi-Road 6x2 twin-steer, with 17.5 inch tyres, featuring the narrower Hi-Road cab often selected for distribution and fleet operations and a 460bhp Cursor 11 engine.

Completing the line-up will be an 18-tonne and a 7.5-tonne Euro 6 Eurocargo. They are equipped with the latest FPT Industrial 4.5-litre Tector 5 and 6.7-litre Tector 7 engines, respectively.
