Iveco Trakker gets Hyva and Weightlifter for Dundee 26 November 2012

To maintain the reliability expected Dundee Plant's fleet of vehicles, the company has specified a Hyva FC137 cylinder for its latest eight wheeler tipper.

Claiming a complete wet weight of under 490kg, and originally designed and built for the rigors of the Asian mining industry, the FC137 is, according to Hyva, perfectly at ease with the less demanding 32 tonnes gvw operation found in the UK.

"It's the very nature of our business – we always want more," says David Hovell, director of Tayside-based Dundee Plant Co.

"And with the combination of Hyva tipping cylinders and Iveco Trakker chassis, we really get it... The Hyva 137 gives us more reliability and more payload," he adds.

Howell says he was also impressed with the low operating costs of the Trakker, while the lighter back end, with its single reduction drive axles and fuel efficient 360bhp 10-litre engine, add to the truck's overall productivity and economy.

"I'm not interested in trucks that are too sophisticated, too heavy or too expensive," comments Howell.

"Today's world is all about being as practical, efficient and cost-effective as possible. In particular, the back-up we get from local Iveco heavy truck dealer AM Phillip is first class."

With a steel Muck-a-Weigh body built in Scotland by Weightlifter, unladen weight for the latest day cab Iveco Trakker is just under 12,500kg, affording a clear 19,500kg of payload.
