JLR win drives £3.6m fleet upgrade for Acumen07 May 2014

Acumen Automotive Logistics is investing £3.6 million to expand its fleet with 20 Scania tractor units and 20 Lohr trailers, following its award of several major contracts from Jaguar Land Rover.

Supplied by dealer Riverside Truck Rental on a full maintenance contract hire arrangement, the Euro 5 Scania P440 6x2 tractor units were chosen for their reliability, low operating costs and fuel efficiency.

The Lohr EHR 300 superstructure and trailers have been designed to carry eight Land Rovers or nine Jaguars.

"After rigorous testing, we chose the Scania primarily for its fuel economy, but were also impressed with the innovative interior and driver comfort," says Chris Doughty, managing director of Northampton-based Acumen.

In addition to its fleet of car transporters, Acumen operates specialist articulated vehicles, and curtainsided rigids and trailers.
