Jost to show larger family at CV Show 201318 March 2013

At next month's CV Show (9—11 April 2013, NEC, Birminghham), Jost will not only present its products for truck and trailer application, but also welcome newly-acquired Edbro to JOST World on stand D50, in Hall 5.

One of the company's central themes at the show will be improving safety, a point emphasised by its current developments in sensor coupling systems for tractor units and trailers.

The Jost unit has been designed to ensure that coupling is correct, helping the driver to avoid mis-coupling issues.

Three sensors monitor the coupling process: the first measures correct coupling height and switches the system on, while two others monitor king pin position and handle the locking status respectively.

The status of the fifth wheel coupling is indicated both visually and acoustically via a display mounted in the driver cabin or integrated within the vehicle dashboard.

A three-sensor solution is also available for the JSK 36 DV fifth wheel coupling. This coupling, which Jost says has been weight-optimised, is suitable for all types of forced steering systems.

The guide bars in the throat ensure correct positioning of the king pin. As an additional safety feature, the JSK 36DV has a fully-automatic handle locking catch with optional spring hock and chain.

Another contribution that JOST hopes will improve safety is the LubeTronic 5Point. This integrated lubrication system for fifth wheel couplings from the JSK 37, 38 and 42 series provides grease not only to the lock jaw but also to the fifth wheel coupling plate.
