Keltruck’s Scania T-Cab restoration now complete 20 August 2013

Keltruck has concluded a 12-month restoration project of a classic Scania T-Cab, much to the delight of the company's sales director David Morgan.

The T-cab was acquired in 2011 on a part-exchange deal, not only to attract crowds at Keltruck events, but also to be used to transport the new Keltruck exhibition trailer to shows.

"I, personally, have always liked the Scania T-Cab, they are very much an iconic vehicle," states Morgan.

"Over the years, we have supplied such T-Cab trucks to customers, including George Green Transport, Atchison Topeka, Countrywide Farmers, Coles & Son, Stancombe Stone," he continues.

"As time has gone by the value of these trucks has soared and they are becoming very collectable," he adds.

The project – involving extensive body, chassis and engine work – was undertaken by Keltruck's body team, in West Bromwich.

Using their expertise and Josam jig equipment, the chassis was stripped down to the rails, shot blasted and rebuilt. All damaged parts were replaced and the vehicle was painted gloss black by Keltruck's Dalby 'cook and bake' paint shop on-site.

With the major chassis work complete the team then moved onto the cab, where the visual transformation occurred. Originally a standard 'T' cab, a Topline roof has now been fitted, the bonnet repaired, damaged air deflectors replaced, and the whole cab refurbished in metallic black.

Extra fittings include new alloy wheels and tyres, SB Components parts painted in metallic black, new day time running headlamps, double rear lights and light bars around the vehicle.

Even the engine and gearbox have been painted to match.

"Several new parts were sourced to make this T-Cab one of the best around," says Morgan. "The interior has been completely refurbished and our suppliers have rallied around to supply items to finish the vehicle off.

"The finished product is testament to what our bodyshop team can achieve. All of them who took part in the rebuild really took this project under their wings and had real pride in making it what it is today."
