Kier cleans up with proactive tyre management from ATS06 November 2017

Street cleaning and recycling business Kier Services has signed with ATS Euromaster for tyre supply and management for its 214-strong fleet.

The deal replaces Kier’s previous agreement with local independent tyre dealers. The decision was made thanks to ATS’s MasterCARE fleet inspection offer, which can improve tyre performance and minimise related downtime.

Kier’s fleet ranges from 3.5-tonne LCVs to 32-tonne refuse collection vehicles, and ATS is now inspecting all vehicles for tread depths and valve caps, as well as for other general tyre damage. A report is given to Kier detailing tyre condition, any immediate work carried out and recommendations for future remedial work.

Darren Judd, head of fleet and plant at Kier Services, says: “ATS Euromaster really impressed us with its comprehensive tyre package. The proactive tyre management is already helping to spot potential tyre issues before they become serious, helping to protect our fleet from unscheduled downtime.

“The amount of information we get from ATS’s monthly reports also provide us with complete financial control on tyre spend. We can identify, very quickly, how well a particular vehicle’s tyres are performing and whether we need to carry out any additional driver training, or address operational issues to help prolong tyre life.”

ATS Euromaster’s health and safety credentials were also a deciding factor: the company belongs to the Contractors Health and Safety Scheme (CHAS) and SafeContractor schemes, and was awarded the Gold Award from RoSPA this year.

Kier Services has specified a Michelin fitment policy for the fleet.
