The turning assistant with integrated driver assistance systems, called ProFleet Assist+, will be available from this autumn, ahead of the European Commission’s deadline of 2022, when all new truck and bus models will need to be equipped with a turning assistant system to boost road safety.
The companies say this is the start of an ongoing partnership, which will see more traffic safety products released in future.
ProFleet Assist+ includes features such as lane departure warning, headway monitoring and warning and forward collision warning, as well as a turning assistant that alerts the driver when cornering on road users in the blind spot.
ProFleet Assist+ is solely designed as a warning system and does not actively intervene in vehicle control – making it easy to fit to existing vehicles. The product is also available without the turn assist function, consisting only of a forward facing camera and driver assistance functions such as forward collision warning and lane departure warning.
