Konectbus cleans up with Britannia automated wash system22 October 2015

Bus operator Konectbus is deploying a new Britannia automated wash system at its Dereham depot, in Norfolk, to keep its extended fleet in pristine condition.

The operator has started a five-year contract to operate all Park & Ride services in Norwich and has 64 buses to serve the six routes.

Manufactured by Smith Brothers & Webb, the Britannia Strong 45 three-brush gantry machine will be used to clean vehicles every night. Available in several sizes, the machine also offers drive-in/out and drive-in/reverse out options to meet each fleet’s requirements.

A microprocessor control system automatically controls the brushes, and a horizontal brush control incorporates artic jump, back off, back on and draw bar trailer functions.

Konectbus has also installed a full reclaim unit to recycle the used water.

Gavin Hunter, managing director of Konectbus, says that with the increased fleet size, “it is essential we have the best equipment to keep the fleet running as efficiently as possible.”

He adds: “Furthermore, the fact that Smith Brothers and Webb provides a full maintenance service provides total peace of mind.”
