Last chance to book for Technician Conference 2013 27 March 2013

Workshop managers and fleet engineers are being urged to sign up to the Technician Professional Development Conference on 17 April in Westminster.

Supported by Exxon Mobil and Goodyear, this one-day event will cover everything from compliance priorities to monitoring unplanned downtime and irtec technician licensing, IRTE Workshop Accreditation, Euro 6 technology and hybrid vehicles.

The conference will be followed by an open forum discussing technician training and pathways for development.

Organised by the FTA (Freight Transport Association), IMechE (Institution of Mechanical Engineers), and IRTE (Institute of Road Transport Engineers), this conference has been convened to debate training and education requirements and careers for future transport technicians.

"Training seminars are an important part of the mix in helping commercial vehicle operators address current and future challenges in the marketplace," comments Steve Crawley, UK/Ireland Commercial vehicle lubricants manager, ExxonMobil Fuels & Lubricants.

"During the Technician Conference we are looking forward to the opportunity to highlight how the latest, high-performance commercial vehicle lubricants, such as Mobil Delvac 1 LE 5W-30, are required to support Euro 6 engines."

Speakers on the day will include senior traffic commissioner Beverley Bell and VOSA technical man Alex Fiddes. CEO of the Engineering Council Jon Prichard and technical standards manager of FirstGroup John Bickerton, will also be in attendance.

Also set to speak at the conference is Tony Parraman, from Bloodhound, the supersonic car that is inspiring an interest in science and engineering in a generation of students.
