Lift maker raises profile of disabled athletes02 July 2015

Commercial and passenger lift manufacturer Palfinger Ratcliff tapped into local sporting talent for the production of its latest video to promote the Evolution and Endurance range of passenger lifts.

The business, based in Welwyn Garden City, was keen to promote mobility and sports activities, so it chose three disabled athletes to star in the video: Jordan Williams, who plays power chair football for England; archer Annette Skuse; and tennis player Marc Francis.

The youngest – Jordan Williams, who was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) as a child – turned 18 last month and is looking for further support to buy a new power chair that costs £7,500 to play for England (see link).

Annette Skuse took up archery last summer and has already won the Indoor Recurve Handicap trophy at her St Albans-based club. During filming, she managed to place all six arrows in the main target area for the first time.

Wheelchair-tennis star Marc Francis practises every day to maintain and improve his position as one of the top 400 tennis players in the world.
